I cannot believe that they ended the series "Monk". I filled out a questionaire once and it asked me what was my favorite television show. My answer without hesitation was "Monk". It was just such a quirky detective show, about a man who was a total wreck, but he solved the murders each week. If you have not seen any of the Monk shows I would ask you to please watch some. It was on for 8 seasons. I was a Monkite and proud of it. I am now suffering from Monkitis...
But the important thing about watching Monk was that for six years now my 8 year old grandson, who I babysat on Friday nights would sit there with me and watch this show. He would try to out guess me as to which person was the bad guy and who did it. I would sometimes pop popcorn and we would sit and watch it while munching happily away. In the summertime we would have ice cream or frozen fruit bars.
The point being that here was something that was special that a grandma and grandson could do on a Friday night together, and actually have fun and enjoy it. We would talk and have friendly arguments about who had done it. Friday Dec. 4 was the last show aired. I almost cried. I still feel like crying. It is the end of an era for a Grandma and Grandson. I know we will find something else to do, but for six years now we have done this. I am going to have to have a grieving process to go through. Grandson has now moved on to the Wii, and I guess I will have to join him. Hah, Mah Jong, might work. We will see.
May all your Fridays be blessed with family and friends and love.
Oh and go to monk.usanetwork.com and order a Monk Bobblehead, someday they might be worth a lot of money. See the great picture of Monk's bobblehead. I oh so need to get me one of those.
You can buy these at monk.usanetwork.com

I've never seen an episode of Monk? I knew I was missing something in my life but I couldn't put my finger on it?
Hey....I was first comment? I see a pattern here?
i never watched monk until recently. it's pretty good.
I ADORE Monk! Sarge and I watched the series finale with a mix of sadness and excitement. I am so disappointed that it's over.
Monk was my favorite show too. For the past three years, I didn't have cable and so could not see it. I didn't even know that Sharona had been replaced. (And I don't care much for the new one).
When a friend recently asked me to fill in at her shop a couple of days per week, one of the perks was getting to watch Monk! I was in Monk heaven as the old shows were run during the day. When I heard it was ending, I was sad and surprised. Perhaps it's more to do with Tony Shaloub wanting to move on...
you know, i never really watched it. i mighthave to check it out on dvd. i do understand the passing of things you enjoy doing together though. i hope you find something fun...and are having a great weekend!
I haven't seen Monk in ages but I really liked it.It was funny.A shame they stopped it.
I only got to watch Monk on occasion but I did enjoy him. So sorry for your loss. (Moment of silence).
I've never even HEARD of him. I don't watch TV.
Well, I guess that means back to Colombo for Sherry. ;-)
Oh, come ooon, he's fun too!
I got into Monk a bit after a friend mentioned he loved the show. I really enjoyed it when I watched TV which is rare. But I know how you felt, I watched The Wire on DVD knowing it was going to end but still felt sad during the final episode.
I basically came to watching Monk on re-runs especially the Monk marathons and thought it was very well done. They decided to end it while it was still on top and before it "jumped the shark."
I always hate it when a show I really like is canceled or they decide to end it. Like losing a family member.
My favourite show is house. They are both shows whos title are made up of one word.
Oh, I enjoyed that show SO MUCH TOO! I did not catch the final episode and plan to do so on one of those internet sites that allow such things!!
Sorry for the loss of the show, but I know you and the grandson will find something else wonderful to share.
I hear ya. I TOTALLY loved Monk as well. I'm boo hooing witcha!
I'm crossing my fingers that there will be a monk miracle and the usa network creates another show for the new monk.... now that the trudy mystery has been solved monk has evolved..... and I think the new man will be just a character as interesting and quirky as the old man....
maybe the show monk will be like law and order and there will be some station playing monk 24/7 - then at least all us monk lovers will have reruns!
