Spring Forward
The days are still so cold,
And the dark night begins early,
The flowers buds continue hiding,
Waiting to spring forth.
The clouds cover, hiding the sun,
Who peeks through now and then,
Bringing light to those below,
Waiting for the warm spring days.
The rains come, then drizzles and pours,
Quenching the dry parched, aching land,
Filling it's greedy, thirsty needs,
Waiting for the seeds to burst through.
The snow sprinkles lightly, then harshly,
Covering everything in a white bath,
Surrounding a land which grows quiet,
Waiting for the melting spring thaw.
The fog drops lower, then slower each morning,
Covering the world like a giant bedroom quilt,
Disappearing earlier with each new warming day,
Waiting for the sunny awakening of the land.
Soon the sun will shine brightly over the land,
Wonders abound, bringing forth a magical world,
Of new birth, of unlimited joy, and a new beginning,
Waiting to spring forward in a new life of love.

This is my second year of partcipating in the Annual Cyberspace Poetry Slam. I like to think that my poetry has evolved since last year. To participate you may choose a poem from your favorite poet or post one of you own. I wrote a new one, but an older one would have been great too.
Everyone is invited to participate and for details go visit Cosmology of Reya, Ronda's Wonderland, tut-tut's Inside the Shell, and many others.
I hope you will all join us, for this is our 5th year. Well for me it is my 2nd year, but who is counting.

thoughts of spring...nice. Here in the cold midwest we've got (groan) another 6 weeks of winter.
Hi Tom,
Here in Cali we almost never leave spring except during the heat waves over the summer. Anything under 60 degrees and everyone here is freezing.
I remember when we were stationed in OK and came home to visit in Feb. Everyone thought we were crazy because we were running around in shorts and tank tops complaining about how hot it was here in Cali. Now that I am in menopause I am doing that again. So now they just look at me and say, menopause, and know that I am crazy.
Thanks for the visit. Maggie enjoyed Toby's party. I like Toby's colors.
God bless.
ah, i am ready to spring forward...we got 2 more inches of ice and snow last night...and a lot more coming this weekend. oh well guess that means good sled time with the boys...smiles.
Reading your poem, I felt like I was moving around the wheel of the whole year. It made me feel peaceful deep in my heart.
Weather and seasons are so dramatic! By comparison, I am serene. Thank you for this!
What beautiful images! Now if spring would only get here. Soon, I know.
Thank you for stopping by for the interview. Appreciate your comments. Looking forward to more of your post.
great poem. i'm so ready for spring!
Oh, Sherry! This is so good and, yes, you have moved beyond your poetry of a year ago. Not that I didn't like Ant Farm because I did, very much. But I go back to the first three months of posts thate we wrote and I see such a huge difference now. Beautiful offering for The Slam!
