Mammoth Lakes Haiku's

One of my offspring is on vacation and sent me this picture of the mountains near Mammoth Lakes which is located in Central California.

Someone once told me that they had heard it never snows in California. Maybe they were thinking of the song about how it never rains in California. Which for the past 8 years that song has been played and played on our local radio stations due to our drought.

But this year we have had lots of rain. Thank you God for El Nino!!! But we have probably had even more snow. So when you look at this picture, you might just see snow, but you know what I see, I see water. Lots and lots of soon to be water, to fill our lakes and reservoirs. Although for now, offspring sees lots of opportunities to go snowboarding. I would see a broken leg if I was there, but then again that is just me.
Sometimes it is hard to believe there are still such beautiful places in California that are not filled with houses. Thank goodness for winter sports!!!

Here are some more Haiku's.....

Mountains filled up,
Snow, cold, fever to play now,
Over, under, oops.

White, water, quickly,
Wondrous adventure high up,
Winter outdoors, ouch!

Trees falling over,
Sliding suddenly, loudly,
Snow time, move. Now.

Beautiful around,
Winter contrasts, white, green, brown,
Nature sees, do you?

Life, hidden in snow,
Singing, seeds, footsteps out there,
Large ones, growling, run.

Enjoyment, mugs, cups,
Hot, chocolate, tea, soup, pie,
Winter goodies, eat.

Travel, home, missing,
Come back, winter calls, cold air,
Packing, hurry, love.

Chill air delights all
As Nature casts her blanket
Of untrodden snow

Infectious, isn't it? Think I'll use this one...

You've got a delightful humour added to these :)

Calif is such a humongous state...i'll bet it has every type of climate possible from top to bottom, from East to West and everything inbetween. I would love to see it all!

I see water too! We are hoping it doesn't warm up to quickly so that snow pack stays as long as possible. Future water.

Your haikus are getting better and better. So fun.

This one was my favorite:

Trees falling over,
Sliding suddenly, loudly,
Snow time, move. Now.

Here's to our future water!

You got that right...I was amazed to find an empty lot right in the heart of San Francisco last week. WTF? Surely somebody would have built on it by now...

I am tired of snow
It depresses me to tears
Let's go to Fiji!

I'm still laughing at your back & forth with Subby on VE's post today.

Glad SoCal is having lots of rain even if they are too stupid to collect it, something that's been talked about as long as I've been around, probably longer. In the northeast, we are very low on snow this year. El Nino went south on us and loaded up NYC, DC & Mid Atlantic states.
