"Enchanted Oak is doing a Simple Things Challenge on Saturday. Post about simple things you cherish, link up and for each post or comment on her blog $2 will be donated to a medical clinic in Haiti. Perhaps it will help provide a few simple things."Brian at WaystationOne wrote this on his blogsite Friday. When you go to her site, Enchanted Oak, Just Chris says that we could either do a post and link it to her site, or just leave a comment there. I was tempted to just leave a comment, but then thought about 'how would others know about this'. She wants to reach a goal of at least $200 to donate, and I hope that we can help her reach it, and then some.
So please visit her site before Sunday and leave a comment, or link up as I am, by posting a few of the Simple Things I enjoy.
Here is my list of Simple Things I enjoy;
A child's smile and laughter.
My cats rubbing my legs when they are happy to see me.
A cold day full of sunshine.
Snow on the mountaintops.
Wild flowers.
Flowers from my garden.
Flowers from other gardens.
Hummingbirds.
Raindrops.
My new puppy, Maggie.
Food, okay, chocolate, cakes, pies, cookies, breads, pasta, pizza, chinese food, mexican food, pretty much any type of food.
Water, milk, juice.
Watching anyone eat something I have cooked, and actually enjoying it.
My grandchildren's smile when they see us.
My mother.
My husband.
My faith and love for God and Jesus.
Helping others.
These are just a few in what I realized could be a very long list. What are your's?
And here is my first attempt at a Haiku:
Titled: My Hair!!!
Raindrops falling near,
Wetting my hair to dry now,
Curls popping up.
Haiku's are a type of poetry that is very new to me, but I am hoping that by studying and learning as much as I can about it that maybe in about 20 years I will be able to do some justice to this style. But I know that if I never try, I will never succeed. So go ahead, let me know what you think. I hope my Haiku's will grow with time and be as sarcastic as necessary.

Oho, dear lady, you have blessed me this evening with your funny list of simple things. I am so pleased you brought me to your blog for a good read, rather than just sending me a comment. I too love flowers, food, cats, and laughter...and haiku! Good job on your first attempt. I warn you, they are addicting! (The more sarcastic, the better.) Have a great Sunday, my new friend.
Chris from Enchanted Oak
Sherry: this is so sweet. I love that you love all those things and your new puppy, Maggie. She is so cute.
I really enjoyed your simple things...I'm glad Chris had us do this.

Hello sweetie - I am trying to get in on this in time. Good shot at your first haiku - remember they are always 7-5-7 - that's it - except if you want to be traditional, then it has to be about nature - but I'm never traditional; I usually haiku about EmmaLou. Let me quickly dash something off at my blog now. Hugs and blessings!
great job with your first haiku attempt.
I have no idea how to judge a haiku, so you are good at it if you ask me! :)
//I did my posting // Simple things that I cherish // hope I did okay
HEY!
You have a new puppy??!!!
I need to take my meds - I MEANT TO SAY Haiku is always 5-7-5 - just shoot me and put me out of everyone's MISERY. ROFLMAO
Hi Chris,
Thank you for inviting us to participate. Glad that we could do something to make you spend some money. I liked your list too. Except I do not drink coffee, but tea instead.
Thank you for the compliment about my first Haiku. I left you another one. I got a funny feeling you are right about them being addicting and it will be hard for me to follow all the rules but if I get some right then that is better than none.
Thank you for visiting.
God bless.
Hi Ronda,
Glad you liked the list. And Maggie might be cute but she is now getting spoiled. If I could just get her to stop peeing in the house then she would be even cuter. But we just bought her diapers yesterday and we will have to see how that works out when it rains. If it is raining she has problems with wanting to go outside and she pees right beside the pee pads but not on them. Ugggg, what is wrong with her. I will have to give her time.
God bless.
Hi RNSANE,
I am thankful that you enjoyed the list. And thankful that Chris invited us all to do this. It is nice to meet you and thank you for stopping by to visit. I will stop by and visit you too.
God bless.
Hi Brian,
Your list was fantastic and thank you for letting us know about this. You really should try and give the Haiku's a try. It would go very well with the style of writing that you have been doing lately. Go to Wikipedia and read about it. I think you will be surprised at how well you will fit in with the rules and doing it. Pretty soon in no time at all you will be the Haiku Master. Just remember I was the first one to tell you this and so I should get your first book dedicated to me. Just kidding okay well not really, yes dedicate it to me.LOL
Thanks for the compliment on my list and Haiku.
God bless.
Hi shakira,
Nice to meet you and thank you for visiting my site. A cold day of sunshine is because being in menopause you just want cold days but the sunshine is so beautiful, so I really thought that those two go well together.
I think that I too will be thinking in Haiku all the time pretty soon. I get obsessed with something and then I go full at it and will try to learn as much as I can about it. I try to do the best as I can and I will look forward to seeing your Haiku's too.
God bless.
Hi Linda,
And what a great job you did. I enjoyed your list so much. EmmaLou and DS, hmmm, which one do you choose, oh okay both of them. How could one not. They are both fantastic.
Loved the Haiku's about EmmaLou, are there more?
God bless.
Hi Jamie,
Thank you for liking my first attempt, be prepared for many, many more. I am going to get into them, yup really into them.
God bless.
Hi Otin,
Thank you. I too am not sure how you judge a Haiku, but I think as with all poetry it you just somehow get it then it is good. Haiku's seem to be very short and I mean very short poetry. I read that the less readers understand the actual poem then the better the poem is. But that they need to understand at least half of what the poet is trying to say. If they understand more than half then the value of the poem goes down. Whereas regular poetry is where you should understand all or most of it.
We will see how well I will be able to confuse you and still be sarcastic. Subby is getting into Haiku's too. Be prepared to be Haiku'd.
God bless.
Hi Coco,
I was not sure if you had seen the post my ma did about me. I mean she even put pictures of me on it. She is spoiling me rotten and pa bought me a dog house yesterday, but I like my bed inside the house the best. And ma bought me a whole box of different kinds of doggy treats. I cannot decide which one I like the best. Now if I could just stop peeing on the carpet then ma would be so happy with me. Dang it I missed that pad again.
Gotta go, I am going into Witness Protection right now.
God bless,
Maggie
the best thing about haikus is they are short!
more power to the haiku!
Lovely list, Mrs. U! xx
