Independence Day

Happy Fourth of July!!!!

Freedom

Freedom was once declared to put an end to tyranny,
In a country that was growing, and there were many,
Who knew that they were being dreadfully overtaxed daily,
By a government who spent their ill gotten money gaily.
And wanted to control every business across the land,
For the leader had many cronies who in greed held out their hand,
Wanting to surely receive their share of ill gotten gains,
Ignoring the people suffering and all of their pains.

The leader had taken control of each business, one by one,
Until he controlled them all and the people soon controlled none,
He and his cronies told the people what to do because the people had no brains,
They were too stupid, they had let the leader take over the reins,
So as to tell them when to work, where to live, what to like, even what to say,
And the people had been like sheep, following their leader every single day,
Giving him and his cronies whatever they asked, living in squalor,
While their leader and his cronies lived in luxury and splendor.

One day, one of the many opened her eyes, truly looked, and she could see,
She saw that they were no longer free, they had lost this due to complacency.
She rang the bells, night and day to wake the others so they could see, to wake them up each day,
She rang and rang, and others rang, to declare a war, to end the tyranny, for others to hear them say,
That they would stand up and fight against those who would not let them be free,
To stand up against those who would over tax them, to fight those who would not let them drink their tea.

They declared their independence from this over educated leader and his cronies right at the start,
They dumped the over taxed tea, gathered up their arms, formed an army, put men in charge who were smart.
They fought a war, and won, they sent their old leader and his cronies back to his land without their tax monies,
They had the smart men write a Constitution in which they would use to rule their new land, rid of the cronies.
Their land became the beacon of hope for those who wanted to live free from greedy dictators and such,
So the people became like lions, always keeping vigil against those who seek to destroy freedom, kicking their arses, enjoying it too much.

God bless America, let freedom ring, let independence grow, let us be one nation under God, let us band together as brothers against those who would harm the less fortunate, let us protect our land of the free so we may be the hope for all those longing for freedom in the lands of the oppressed. Let us be a peaceful nation and help those in need. May God bless America.

  2. love how you brought that home...our complacency leads to many things lost that we dont even realise until it is too late...if we could only all agree on what it mean to be free...

hope you have a great 4th...

  4. Hi Patti,

Thank you for the compliment. I reread what I wrote and I too decided I liked what I wrote in the last papragraph. Just hope we can always follow it and be a peaceful nation. I know war is a necessity sometimes, but peace is better.

    God bless.

    Hi Brian,

Your welcome, glad I made you smile. I had fun with the visit, I remember a time when I got to be first most of the time and then something happened, people visited, lots and lots of people visited and left comments. Sometimes I feel lost in all the comments. Congrats on that by the way. Still hoping it pans out into a book. It will be a great book.

And complacency is the main thing that causes a war to be lost without a shot being fired. Everything can be lost due to complacency, everyone must always be vigilient. The Taliban is just waiting in the wings waiting for us and the Afgans to become complacent, then they will just take over again.

We are a nation that is waking up to fight the corruption that we are finding out about in our own government. If we get rid of these corrupt leaders then maybe almost all of the corruption will end. Only we can end corruption.

Some only understand what it is to be free when the freedom is taken away from you. I might write about it sometime. I can tell you we need to protect it with our heart and soul, for our children, grandchildren, and their children. Once it is lost it is even harder to get back.

    God bless.

  5. Hi Baino,

Yes, I thought of you but it was more in that it would have been nice to have you here. The weather was cooperating and it was beautiful.

I hope work went well and still praying that you get a better job.

And thank you for the Happy Independence wishes.

    God bless.

    Hi Chris,

I was trying to put myself in someone living around that time and what they must have seen and been going through. Strange how it can apply to things today, but let us pray that we do not have to go through what they did.

I too am grateful for what our founding fathers went through to let us live in such a wonderful country. Let us pray we keep our freedoms and never give in by an inch. I think the problem is that these politicans get so much power and forget that they work for us and that it is we, the people, who truly hold the power.

    God bless.
